On Lake Windermere - any season.

Not only does the Lakes Line travel straight to the heart of the Lake District, it also offers great attractions and places to visit en-route. Visit the vibrant town of Kendal for the castle, great museums and galleries, the Brewery Arts Centre, wonderful shops and walks along the banks of the River Kent.

Staveley is the gateway to the beautiful Kentmere Valley and offers great walking, mountain biking and its own brewery! Visit Windermere and take a scenic trip across the lake with Windermere Lake Cruises, go for a walk or perhaps just relax in town and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

There are bus connections to other lakeland destinations at, or near to, many of the stations and bicycles can be hired at Windermere station or in the Mill Yard at Staveley. A Tourist Information Centre is only a 1 minute walk from Windermere station.

The centre of Bowess-on-Windermere is only 2 Km (1.3 miles) from Windermere station. There you can enjoy shopping, museums and stunning boat trips on Lake Windermere.
